Jury member of Latvian Design Award 2018 — Germans Ermičs
Germans Ermičs is the internationally renowned, Latvia-born Amsterdam-based product, graphic and interior designer.
After studying design in Denmark in 2007, Germans co-founded the Latvian culture magazine Veto, serving as art director. Prior to his graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2011 he completed an internship at Studio Robert Stadler in Paris and during the next years was working on diverse interior and graphic design projects for both Dutch and international clients. In autumn 2014 he started his own studio in Amsterdam. The award–winning glass furniture by Studio Germans Ermičs is about experiencing colour in material. The colour becomes the element that generates the meaning of the form, transforming the pure geometry of material into an expressive object.
"One of the most valuable learning opportunities available is showing your work. Sharing it with the public, with mentors, and with peers provides not only reflection and feedback, but also a moment in which you can build the professional and creative connections that will inform your perspective."
